minded is built around a simple principle: your reflection data and attention patterns should stay yours.
Controller
The controller responsible for this website and the minded product is Johannes Millan, Hauptstraße 4H, 10407 Berlin, Germany. Privacy questions can be sent to contact@minded.today.
Website Logs
This website is a static Astro site. It does not require an account, and it does not include analytics, advertising pixels, or social tracking scripts. The web server may create standard access logs, such as requested URL, timestamp, IP address, user agent, and referrer. These logs are processed to deliver the site, maintain security, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website.
Local App Data
minded stores your mood and energy check-ins, reflections, intentions, selected focus durations, configured distracting sites or apps, streak and progress state, and app preferences in local browser or device storage. minded has no backend and operates no servers, so this data is never transmitted, synced, or uploaded to minded or to anyone else, and minded never receives or has access to it. It stays on your device until you remove it (see Data Deletion). Local feature data is processed to provide the app features you choose to use. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where processing is necessary to provide requested app functionality, and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where you grant an optional permission or enable an optional feature based on consent.
Chrome Extension and Android Permissions
The Chrome extension uses permissions needed for the mindful new-tab experience, local settings, timers, and intervention pages for configured distracting sites. On Android, app-blocking and mindful-pause features you enable may use usage access and an accessibility service to detect which app is currently in the foreground, plus notification permission to deliver reminders you turn on. These permissions are used only to run the features you configure, are processed entirely on your device, and are never transmitted to minded or any third party. You can withdraw any of these permissions at any time in your browser or operating-system settings, after which the related feature stops working.
minded does not request, collect, or use location data. minded does not sell or share your personal data, serve ads, or build advertising or marketing profiles.
Support Requests
If you contact minded by email, your email address, message content, and any information you choose to include are processed so the request can be answered and follow-up questions can be handled. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for requests related to using minded and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for the legitimate interest in responding to other inquiries and keeping necessary support records.
Recipients and Service Providers
minded operates no servers of its own and does not transmit your app data off your device. It does not use analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or telemetry services. The only third parties that may process limited data, under their own privacy policies, are: the website's hosting provider, which may create standard server access logs; the email provider used to answer support requests; and the platforms through which minded is distributed and run — the Chrome Web Store and Google Play (both operated by Google) and your operating system — which may process installation and platform-permission data. minded charges nothing and processes no payment data. Where any of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, they do so under their own transfer mechanisms, such as adequacy decisions or EU standard contractual clauses.
Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear browser or app storage, uninstall minded, or use operating-system deletion controls. Website logs are kept only as long as needed for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention, then deleted or anonymized. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to respond, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
Data Deletion
minded stores your check-ins, reflections, intentions, settings, streak and progress state, and other app data in local browser or device storage, and it does not keep a copy on minded's own servers. You can delete all of your data yourself at any time:
- Android app: open your device Settings, go to Apps (or Apps & notifications), select minded, open Storage, and tap "Clear storage" / "Clear data" to erase all stored app data. Uninstalling the app also removes its data from your device.
- Chrome extension: open chrome://extensions, find minded, and choose "Remove" to uninstall it and clear its stored data. You can also clear the extension's data through your browser's privacy and site-data controls.
- Website: the site does not require an account or store personal app data; clearing your browser's cache and cookies removes anything your browser kept for it.
There is no account to close, because minded does not require one. If you would like help deleting your data, want confirmation that it has been removed, want any support emails you have sent to be erased, or want to make a data deletion request under the GDPR, email contact@minded.today and your request will be handled within 30 days.
Your Rights
Subject to the GDPR's requirements, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent for the future at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, including the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
No Automated Decisions
minded does not use personal data from this website or the app for automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.
